I get to see ETID play it in full in a couple of weeks, ridiculously excited for it. From that wild chaotic opening of Romeo a Go-Go to the swaggering Southern rock breakdown on I Been Gone A Long Time, the genuinely iconic Floater (still one of ETID’s best songs and a highlight of every live set) or the closer Pornogratherapy which has all those switches between harsh breakdown riffs and groovy rock… it’s a properly classic record, definitely one that every metalcore fan should check out at some point IMO.

And when you take your list and throw the other three listed in you have some wildly different versions of Metalcore or variations. You had the more hardcore, more metalcore, then you had BTBAM doing mind-blowing shit that sounded like nothing else. Man, this makes me feel old! There’s a ton of others I forgot, too, and like you said, a lot of this stuff was kinda different variations of metalcore, which turned into a lot of splinters, but these bands would all fit on a bill in 2003-04 perfectly.

I was just out of Nice 20 Years of 2000 2020 Signatures Asilaydying Thank For Memories Shir and listened to music spanning from emo to screamo to post-hardcore to metalcore and everything in between. Soooooo many great albums dropped around this time. It also make me feel old now too! Poison the Well is so good dude. Each album is pretty different but I’d highly recommend You Come Before You and Opposite of December. I also absolutely love Versions but that’s more of a departure from actual metalcore.
