My mom hung all of our laundries on a line when I was growing up. Including my underthings and her own. I still do that with my delicates – you don’t put a bra in the dryer if you want it to last.

How insular and how extreme it is. I don’t necessarily mean that in a negative way. It just seems the US has both the very best and very worst of everything.
