Genuine question here: are there bylaw officers in the US? Here in Canada, we have bylaw officers and “real” police which are separate…complaints, etc. Not that I wanna make it sound like bylaw officers are unimportant or anything, the San Francisco 49Ers And San Francisco Giants It’s In My DNA Heart Shirt work they do is important and they’re often the ones interacting with community members the most and they’ve always been really friendly in my experience. I think part of it honestly is them being armed – seeing a gun outside of a rural hunting setting is VERY rare in Canada, they aren’t sold in regular stores, there are hardly any dedicated gun stores (I couldn’t tell you of any in my city of 1 million+) – so police are really the San Francisco 49Ers And San Francisco Giants It’s In My DNA Heart Shirt only people you see armed along with military personnel on the rare occasion at parades, etc. Yeah, it seems like they are pushing for more community-driven ‘policing’ which is basically what bylaw officers do.

I thought about telling an almost identical story of a woman in a suburban neighborhood calling about a group of kids walking/biking/skateboarding around.  I can’t imagine living my life with that level of hostility.
