I understand the fear of not wanting to spoil the creative energy, but I’m tired of people bashing learning music theory as if it will always make you stuffy and robotic. People who do that seem to be unable to separate instrumentation from music. Music is ideas and feelings, instrumentation is just a vehicle to get you there. Learn an instrument AND learn music, and don’t assume one always supplements the other.
